Overview

Paper Clips ("we," "our," or "the service") is a personal content curation tool. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard key derivation and are never stored in plain text.

Content sources. We store the RSS feeds, YouTube channels, GitHub repositories, and other content sources you choose to follow. This data is used solely to generate your personalized briefings.

Preferences. We store your display preferences (theme, font, font size, density, language) to provide a consistent experience across devices.

Generated content. AI-generated summaries of the content from your sources are stored in our database and associated with your account.

Analytics

We use PostHog, a product analytics platform, to understand how people use Paper Clips. Our analytics implementation operates in cookieless mode: no tracking cookies or persistent identifiers are stored on your device. All data is held in memory only and discarded when you close the tab.

We collect anonymous, aggregate usage data such as page views, feature usage, and error reports. We do not send your email address or other personally identifiable information to our analytics service. Session recording is disabled.

We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We do not sell, share, or disclose your personal data to third parties. We do not track your browsing behavior beyond what is necessary to operate and improve the service.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to operate the service: authenticating your sessions, fetching content from your chosen sources, generating AI summaries, and displaying your personalized feed. Session cookies are used only for authentication and are marked HttpOnly and Secure.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. All connections use HTTPS. Session tokens are stored server-side with automatic expiration.

AI Processing

Content from your sources is processed by third-party AI services to generate summaries. The content sent is limited to what is necessary for summarization. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Your Rights

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. You can modify or remove any content sources from your feed. You can update your display preferences at any time.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the service. Continued use of Paper Clips after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
